Set Mundane Protection to activate on battle initiation and before combat. This will counter the huge advantage that elf has with Stab and dirty fighting and give other builds and different skills better chance and utilisation. The five turn cooldown still applies.

Logic is that if you have that skill then it should be working for you from the very begining.
